Before you take the two halves apart, note that the battery is attached to the back half but everything else is attached to the front half. Remove all 4 screws from the front half of the base and all 8 screws from the back half. Pop the key back in, put the rubber piece back and screw the PCB on and test how the key feels. Sand the edges of the key to remove the interference (I used 180 grit sandpaper to rough it and 320 grit to smooth it). Push the clips of the sticky key inward to pop the key out. Remove the single screw holding the PCB and rubber piece in place and remove them carefully. Remove all 8 screws from the back of the neck. Rather I used IMaximusDMI's fix that he put in the comments section of the video. Sticky Key Fix: IsaacPlays has a video showing how he fixed his sticky keys but his solution didn't make sense for me because I could see my key interfering with the sides of the key pocket. Take a flat head screwdriver or any tool that can fit into the triangular groove on the back of the guitar base, turn clockwise, and pull the neck from the base.Ģ. I saw how to do this from VexCoGames' video but IsaacPlays also has one too. You'll need to remove the neck from the base. The strum fix also changes the "feel" and "sound" of the strum so this fix isn't for you if you like the way the strum feels and sounds out of the box. Messing with the guitar probably voids any warranty as well. The keys feel fine and the down strum is fixed from what I can tell (I still miss a note here and there in the middle of constant eighth notes like "Stacy's Mom" or "All The Small Things" but I think that's more of me being crap on the timing).ĭISCLAIMER: DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. From what I could find, most people exchanged their guitars and hoped that their next replacement was flawless or keep exchanging until they got one that worked. ![]() My up strum was fine but playing that way sucks. ![]() My down strum would skip or double strum and my top 3rd key was sticky out of the box. Like many other rockstars who bought the new Guitar Hero, I started getting controller issues after a couple hours. ![]()
